It was only a few short weeks ago that our tenant farmer was forced to begin feeding hay to his cattle herd due to the drought we were experiencing. He normally begins feeding in November or December. Our fertile pastures had turned brown, leaves were starting to drop from trees, and streams were drying up.
Two scant weeks and 6 inched of rain later, everything is verdant and lush once again. The photos of our new office tell the story. The first was taken before the first of the two tropical systems began showering us with welcome relief, the second taken on September 11, 2008.
The rains returned just in time to allow the apples to plump up prior to harvest, the grasses to begin their fall spurt of growth, and the streams to flow once again. What a relief!
