Polyface Farm Featured in Upcoming Movie Screening

For those of you who couldn’t attend the recent tour of Polyface Farm sponsored by the Baldwin Center for Preservation Development, you might be interested in attending a screening of Fresh, a movie by ana Sophia Joanes, plus FRESH-PICKED IDEAS, a panel discussion to follow, featuring Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms, Judy Berger of JABA, Tanya Denckla Cobb of UVA’s Institute for Environmental Negotiation, and Ramona Huff from Gryffon’s Aerie

FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Among several main characters, FRESH features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, the recipient of MacArthur’s 2008 Genius Award; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur, Joel Salatin, made famous by Michael Pollan’s book, the Omnivore’s Dilemma; and supermarket owner, David Ball, challenging our Wal-Mart dominated economy.

There will be a reception after the screening with the panelists at El Camino, the new restaurant next to Vinegar Hill Theater. Virginia wines available!

Wednesday, July 29th, 7 p.m., Vinegar Hill Theater

Tickets $15 — tickets available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/72018 and at Dominion Bookstore on the Downtown Mall, and Feast! at the Shops at West Main

Proceeds benefit Kay’s Kitchen, Charlottesville’s new community kitchen to feed and provide job skills training for the homeless, and bring all members of the community together to break bread (locally sourced, if available!) over breakfast.
