DAY 20: an awesome day in mostly rain

We had an incredible day today–after starting shiplapping yesterday afternoon at two we are just a few feet short of completing the entire lower level of the building–and we worked cooperatively in tandem with the pouring the concrete floor for the entire day as well. I cut, Lucas and Jon were nailing respectively on and below the ladder, and Matt did all the notching and advance work with the window headers and flashing to stay ahead of the maniacs running the nailguns. It started pouring around noon and pretty much never let up–while I had the cushy job cutting shiplap on the porch (surely in deference to my age and not my position) but the others were pretty much in the rain the whole time… :-P

The batch of shiplap from Britton’s in Taftsville VT is exceptional–so it has been a pleasure to work with and virtually no boards to bend to make straight…we love it.

At this rate we hope to have the entire building sided by Friday…God willing and the weather cooperating.
