Baldwin Center Update: Race to the Finish (Carpentry) Line

Finish carpentry is in full swing at the Baldwin Center, as (recycled) drywall was sanded on Monday.  Painting starts tomorrow, which will require a bit of scheduling ballet, as we’ll have ceilings being installed on the loft at the same time.

With the passing of our rough-in inspections, and closing the walls, the spaces are truly taking shape.  The “living room” and “library” areas downstairs are coming together, and the “loft” up top is getting to be something special.

While finish work procedes inside, we’ve nearly completed finish grading and seeding around the building’s immediate perimeter and most of the parking area.  Following septic field installation tomorrow and Friday, we’ll likely finish-grade the entire site.  Already, thanks to a close bush-hogging late last week, we can begin to see the shape of the various outdoor spaces defined by the building, its porches, and the surrounding mature elms, oaks and magnolias.  Adirondack chairs have been ordered for iced-tea sipping afternoons.

If you haven’t stopped by the Center in a while, I encourage you to come take a look.  We’re moving rapidly toward substantial completion, and look forward to welcoming you to this new facility in the fall.
