DAY 22: SHIPLAP COMPLETE

We had another great but much less intense and arduous day today….siding the upper front above the porch and then finishing off the cupola by mid afternoon. Matt also handled siding and trimming the gable sides of the porches while Jon and Lucas ran around on top of the roof…. =-O

We are all whipped from [...]

DAY 21:a long hot brutal and productive day

We somehow managed to finish both upper gables today–in spite of a torrential rainstorm and the window delivery–both of which we appreciated but delayed our workday almost a couple of hours because the crew was crazy enough to want to finish–which I of course enabled but continuing to cut for them even though we were [...]

I cut, Lucas and Jon were nailing respectively on and [...]

DAY 19: wrappin’ and ‘lappin’….

The crew went off the charts today getting the entire building wrapped by just after lunch–and then we settled into the groove and ran shiplap along the front porch for the remaining three hours. I took a few more pictures of the framing before we took the traumatic step of wrapping it up….but the siding [...]

DAY 17:Cupola and Porch Framed and Roofed….

We had a productive and intense day today–most of it spent on the roof of the cupola putting up the rafters and roofing, as well as on the porch installing the roofing panels there. We are all tired form the long week but grateful to have gotten the building–with the exception of the second story [...]

Day 13 -16 – Porch and Cupola Framed

While I was home in Vermont for several days the guys got most of the deck and porch done–in unseasonably hot muggy weather and so much pollen the green roof actually turned yellow….yuk…
Today we put the purlins on the porch roof and then spent the rest of the day framing the cupola. We were delightfully [...]
